We remodeled our kitchen, and part of the living room to turn it into a great room and an open floor plan. Ed and Kate from Jack 'N Tool Box were professional, courteous and they bent over backwards to make sure that we were satisfied with the work that was done. Ed came out several times after the project was finished to discuss other options I was interested in (like adding attic space above the garage) and fixing small things and he didn't charge me for those visits. So I was very impressed with their dedication. Another example-we had a casing made for a new range hood and that was complicated to get exactly the right shape so the designer, Kate, and the subcontractor came out three times to get it done exactly right. Their attention to detail was very good and anything that didn't go as planned-they took time to fix it and didn't run up the cost for extras. Ed also expedited the permit process at the county which turned out to be a big hassle. He was working overtime though to make sure it got done as quickly as possible. They did careful work, with Ed following up close behind. I asked to relocate ceiling light, and they did so quickly. Although it took awhile to start work, because of many other projects in this area-think Montecito reconstruction, they completed their work in a timely manner. Just a completed a major bathroom remodel along with a whole house cosmetic facelift. Working with Ed Hurd and his team, including his designer, Kate Yamasaki, at Jack ‘N Toolbox was as smooth and effortless as any remodel can be. Ed was available every step of the way, returning calls and providing information updates and change orders as needed. Ed was able to give a timeline for each phase of the project. My partner, Eric Koentges, and I hired Jack 'N Tool Box to do a remodel of a small house on the Mesa. Ed Hurd, Vice President, and Kate Yamasaki, Designer, visited the project site right away and immediately began a very thorough review of what we wanted. Kate provided several design ideas for the kitchen and based on our choices Ed was able to give us a bid that we were happy with. Work began right away, October, 2015, and has just ended - February, 2016. Ed, Kate, their crews and subcontractors were very responsive, courteous, professional and helpful, especially with design decisions. We have worked with Jack "n" Toolbox a number of times over the last two decades. They have remodeled a bathroom, rebuilt two exterior staircases, repaired a slab leak, built a laundry room, replaced a spiral staircase with a straight drop one and remodeled the room into which it descended and, most important of all, identified and corrected a major building error made by a previous owner which surfaced during the torrential rains of January 2005.
